Android Phones’ New AI-Powered Security Features: Theft Detection Lock
Google has released Theft Detection Lock, a potent new security feature for Android phones. This function uses cutting edge AI to identify when someone takes your phone and tries to drive, bike, or run away. The screen of your phone will instantly lock if such unusual movement is seen, keeping robbers from quickly accessing your information.
Better Defense with Offline Device Lock
Besides Theft Detection Lock, Google is launching Offline Device Lock. If a thief tries to disconnect your phone for an extended length of time, this feature locks your screen to help safeguard your data even when your device is not online. Furthermore indicators of illegal access, such a high number of unsuccessful authentication attempts, can be identified by Android, which will lock the device.
Disposition
A later this year Google Play services update will make Theft Detection Lock and Offline Device Lock available to smartphones running Android 10 or later.
Move Quickly using Remote Lock
The Remote Lock function offers a fast fix in cases when your phone has already been taken. Using simply your phone number and a straightforward security challenge from any device, Remote Lock allows you to lock your phone screen. This function allows you time to retrieve your Google account information and use Find My Device to issue a full factory reset command, wiping your device clean.
Look Up My Device
Remote lock or wipe of a lost or stolen phone and marking it as missing for easy tracking are already possible with the Find My Device function. Android 5 and up devices are compatible with this functionality.
